Jeannie Petyarre is a fantastic artist from Utopia, experimenting and learning her craft from her sisters Kathleen, Gloria, Ada Bird, Nancy, Myrtle and Violet. Jeannie is also the granddaughter to the world famous Emily Kame Kngwarreye. She is a highly talented artist who captures the spirit and soul of her rich culture in her beautiful works of art. She is very well known and loved for her meticulous artistic portrayal of her Dreamings.
Jeannie's works are held at the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra and the Robert Holmes a Court Collection in Perth. She has been involved in numerous group exhibitions: Utopia Women's Painting - a summer project, 1989; A Picture Story - Works on Silk - from the Holmes a Court Collection; Central Australian Aboriginal Art and craft Exhibition - Alice Springs, 1993.
Jeannie paints her Dreamings by adopting innovative designs with bold colours and patterns. This uniqueness makes her one of the leading contemporary Utopian artists. Her works are sold in most major galleries around Australia and she is a highly sought after artist.
